Summit Peak Wellness

Serving Boulder County

Medical Weight Management Serving Boulder County, CO

Medical weight loss for patients across Boulder County. GLP-1 medications when appropriate, InBody body-composition monitoring, nutrition coaching, and muscle preservation — so you lose fat, not the tissue that keeps you strong.

If you live in Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Lyons, Niwot, or Gunbarrel and are searching for a medical weight loss program that goes beyond handing you a prescription, Summit Peak Wellness serves patients from across Boulder County. Our practice is located in North Boulder's Dakota Ridge neighborhood — a convenient drive from communities to the north, east, and south — and we offer virtual follow-up visits so the drive is not required for every appointment.

Many weight loss programs in the Boulder County area operate as medication dispensaries: you get a prescription, maybe a brief follow-up, and you are on your own. We do the opposite. Medication is one tool within a complete plan that includes InBody body-composition monitoring, personalized nutrition coaching, resistance training, sleep and stress optimization, and our Lean-Mass Protection Standard — a protocol designed to ensure you are losing fat, not the muscle that keeps you strong and metabolically healthy for decades to come.

What sets us apart is measurement. We do not guess whether your program is working. We track your body composition — fat mass, lean mass, visceral fat — using clinical-grade InBody technology at every visit. We monitor metabolic markers through targeted lab panels. And we track your nutrition, exercise, sleep, and symptoms through our companion app between visits. If something is not working, we see it and adjust. This is data-driven, personalized medical weight management — not a one-size-fits-all prescription mill.

Why Travel to North Boulder

Comprehensive Weight Loss Care Under One Roof

Finding a weight loss clinic in Boulder County that offers GLP-1 medication management, clinical-grade body-composition testing, nutrition coaching, exercise programming, and ongoing app-based tracking — all with one provider — is rare. Most practices offer one or two of these pieces. We offer all of them, connected.

Patients travel to our North Boulder practice from Longmont (approximately 20–30 minutes via Diagonal Highway), Louisville (approximately 15–20 minutes), Lafayette (approximately 15–20 minutes), Lyons (approximately 25–30 minutes via Highway 36), Niwot (approximately 15 minutes), and Gunbarrel (approximately 10–15 minutes). Drive times vary depending on starting point and traffic. The drive is manageable, and virtual follow-up visits mean you do not need to make it every time.

Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner Holly Powell, MSN, MBA, FNP-C, is the only provider you will see. She has 20 years of primary care experience plus advanced training in obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine. No rotating clinicians, no nurse-staffed visits, no handoffs. Every plan is hers. Every adjustment is hers.

What Happens During Your Visit

Your First Weight Management Consultation

Your initial visit is comprehensive — typically 60 minutes. We do not rush. Here is what to expect:

Comprehensive health history and weight history review
InBody body-composition analysis (fat mass, lean mass, visceral fat, water distribution)
Metabolic marker review (HbA1c, fasting insulin, lipids if labs are available)
Discussion of GLP-1 medications (semaglutide, tirzepatide) and whether they are appropriate
Personalized nutrition targets — especially protein to protect lean mass
Exercise and resistance training recommendations
Sleep and stress evaluation — both significantly affect weight loss
Discussion of your goals, barriers, and lifestyle realities

Virtual Follow-Up Options

Ongoing Care Without the Drive

After your initial in-person consultation, most follow-up visits can be done virtually by video. You will need to come to our North Boulder office for InBody body-composition scans (every 4-8 weeks) and lab draws, but medication management, nutrition adjustments, exercise planning, and progress reviews can all be done from home.

Between visits, you track your progress in our companion app — weight, nutrition, exercise, symptoms, and wearable data if you use one. Your provider reviews your data before each virtual visit, so your appointment is spent on adjustments and strategy, not catching up on what happened since last time.

This hybrid model — in-person for testing, virtual for follow-up — makes comprehensive medical weight management accessible from anywhere in Boulder County.

The Lean-Mass Protection Standard

Lose Fat, Not Muscle

GLP-1 medications can cause significant weight loss, but some of that weight can be muscle — not just fat. Muscle loss during weight loss is a major concern for long-term health, metabolism, and weight maintenance. Our Lean-Mass Protection Standard is designed specifically to prevent this.

We track body composition at every visit using InBody technology. We optimize your protein intake based on your lean mass and goals. We build resistance training into your plan from day one. And if you are on a GLP-1 medication, we monitor you even more closely — because what you lose matters as much as how much you lose.
